My new hobby....We will call it Food Critics Corner.

A and I went out to eat with my parents on Friday. A got to decide where we were eating. She choose Parkette. This is always a good choice.

I ordered the steak hoagie. My favorite. I have to say, I was very disappointed. It was the worst hoagie I have ever eaten. The waitress swears they are exactly the same as they have been for the last 40 years. She is wrong. The buns are different, the meat is different and there was very little cheese or peppers. It was really gross. I could hardly eat it. A says grilled cheese and fries are good. I only go there for hoagies, so I will not be going back any time soon.

My new favorite place for hoagies is Gourmet Cafe. It is run by the Lindsey brothers and their food is pretty darn good.

Other local restuarants coming soon.

Oh by the way, don't eat at the local Peking. The kitchen isn't fit to make food for my dog. Seriously, the health inspector should shut the place down. I could give details, but noone wants to read about it. Very gross!

Tell me about it. I was very upset all weekend over this. Maybe they will get enough complaints and change them back, one can only hope. In the meantime, you should try the ones at Gourmet Cafe, Mark Lindsey makes a mean hoagie.

Somehow I have a hard time picturing him making hoagies, where is this place at?

All the food at Parkette seems to be getting crappy. I'm not sure what the problem is. That has ALWAYS been my favorite restaurant, even years ago when they were in the old building that was slowly sliding over the hill. The building is much nicer and bigger now, but the food has suffered. Very sad!

The Gourmet Cafe is on Bridgeport Hill just down the hill a bit and across the road from Twin Oaks. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is good. We order lunch from there all the time. I like the chicken salad, they are huge, and the steak hoagies with mixed peppers. Good stuff!

The next time I am in that area I will have to check it out. Isnt it weird what people "grow up" to be?

I would have been a supermodel if I was just a couple inches taller.

I liked the old parkett restaurant, I loved the nostalgia, plus I would stare at the family portrait (i was 10 maybe) and fanstazie about marrying the blond son, i didnt realize that he was like my parents age!
